Can students use Zoom to record my class?

Help, Zoom

Home » Learning Technologies » Zoom » Can students use Zoom to record my class?

The default option in the UVic Zoom environment is that only the host can record the session. Students will only be able to use Zoom to record a class if you grant them permission by making them a host, or if you grant them recording privilege from the More option in the participants list.

To record a session so that students can rewatch the session (or catch up if they were absent), we recommend recording your session in Zoom, uploading it to your Echo360 library, then publishing the recording to your course.

Keep in mind that students might use other ways to record a class, like the camera on their phone or a screen capture software. We recommend informing your students about their responsibilities regarding respecting privacy of others in the class and adhering to policies for protecting the privacy of others in the class and respecting copyright/intellectual property of instructors by not sharing content without required consent and attribution.
