About the grant
The Anti-Racism Initiative grant supports learning and teaching projects aligned with UVic’s commitment to anti-racism and the values of equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging as set out in:
- the Distinctly UVic Strategic Plan
- the Equity Action Plan
- as a signatory of the Scarborough Charter on Anti-Black Racism and Black Inclusion in Canadian Higher Education
Funded projects can involve the design of new courses, the creation of new materials for existing courses or, course/program curriculum renewal to integrate EDI and/or engage students in anti-racism awareness and work.
This grant is due on February 23, 2026 at 11:59 p.m.

Application details
Eligibility
All LTI grants are open to:
Single or co-applicants who directly support student learning and the student experience at UVic are eligible to apply for LTI grants including:
- research stream faculty
- teaching stream faculty
- sessional lecturers
- laboratory instructors
- academic units
- staff
Previous LTI grant recipients may apply. If your grant is still active, you must close it out before applying for a subsequent LTI grant. You may not apply to more than one LTI grant in the same year.
Grant criteria
Successful proposals will include a:
- Clear and feasible learning outcomes stating what students will know, do, or become through this project
- Project context, goals, activities, and timeline including a thorough description of:
The context for the project
Clear, achievable goals
Activities that align with and support the goals
A reasonable timeline to complete the project - Integration of anti-racism principles describing how the project fully integrates principles of anti-racism, equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging, demonstrating alignment with UVic’s Equity Action Plan
- Project impact explaining how many students will benefit from the project and for how long
- Literature review providing a thorough, well-detailed review of relevant literature that informs the project
- Budget providing a clear, well-elaborated budget that is directly linked to the project’s goals and learning outcomes

Adjudication rubric
Adjudicators will use a scoring rubric to assess your proposal, with rating scores ranging from 1.0 to 5.0.
