Bruce Ravelli is committed to guide appropriate goal setting for students during courses Sociology 100A and B: Introduction to Sociology. Ravelli takes the mystery of what students need to know by giving students all the questions before the test. By providing the questions and grading rubrics in advance, students have the time to prepare and develop a plan that works best for them (6.1, 7.3). Ravelli makes a recording for each exam outlining the material students need to cover in their answers. Lectures are recorded in case a student needs to revisit important or difficult material, as well as previously graded exams and lecture slides.
Ravelli also helps students explore the beauty of sociology when they are not in the classroom. For example, Ravelli’s Sociology textbook is integrated with Brightspace and has features allowing for students to get real-time feedback on quizzes and reflective exercises (6.4). Students are also able to listen to the text when they are on the bus or walking to campus.
