The co-host feature allows you to share most hosting privileges with another user in a meeting or webinar. This can be useful to allow another user to manage the administrative side of the meeting, such as muting participants or starting/stopping the recording.

Before the session:

  • Add a co-host by first inviting them just like any participant
  • Sign into the Zoom web portal and click Settings.
  • Navigate to the Co-host option and verify that the setting is enabled.
  • If the setting is disabled, click the Status toggle to enable it. If a verification dialog displays, choose Turn On to verify the change.

Once the session starts:

  • In the meeting, go to the Participant list
  • Hover over the name of the co-instructor > click More > click Make Co-Host.

Note:

  • Co-hosts are able to run existing polls, but cannot create new ones for the session. Co-hosts are also not able to switch between breakout rooms or assign participants to break out rooms. If you would like to offload much of this type of work to a TA or other instructional team member, make them the host and ask them to make you a co-host.
  • Co-hosts cannot start the meeting, consider assigning an alternative host for this.
