Background
Our goal is to support the UVic community by helping deliver high-quality, effective learning and teaching experiences. If you are developing a non-credit training program, course or module or require support as a UVic non-faculty staff member, an LTSI Service Level Agreement (SLA) may be required.
When is an SLA required?
The Division of Learning and Teaching Support and Innovation (LTSI) has a mandate to support instructors in learning and teaching and the delivery of credit-based courses. An SLA is required when LTSI support extends beyond the scope of general consultation for credit-based courses and involves more comprehensive, hands-on services for courses, training modules or programs that are non-credit based. An SLA formalizes the partnership, detailing the responsibilities, timelines, and expectations for both parties to ensure effective project completion.

Examples of existing SLAs
In the following two projects, we assisted clients with project scoping, provision of course design tools and resources, creation of interactive modules and content development, evaluation and feedback in response to user surveys.
Privacy training module
This project was provided in annual staff and instructor/faculty training and included a full development of 3 modules, as well as revision of 2 modules.
Occupational Health, Safety and Environment (OHSE) course redesign
This project redesigned specific courses over to Brightspace, including “Addressing Bullying, Harassment & Discrimination Complaints – Supervisors”; “Compressed Gas Cylinders: Safe Handling & Use”; and “Lab Safety for Non-Lab Workers”. We also explored accordion webpages, explored completion tracking, self-enrollment, and certification.
Complimentary consult – needs analysis
With any of our services, we include a complimentary consult and needs analysis with you and your team to discuss your course, site or project. We will use the time to guide you through options and approaches including: design, tool selection, accessibility standards, and best practices for content delivery.
