G-Suite and Google Workspace are no longer supported by LTSI starting Fall 2023.

LTSI will continue to offer support with the use of all of UVic’s centrally supported tools such as Brightspace. If you require assistance with design guidance or setup of your Brightspace site please contact us.

G-Suite is a collection of cloud computing, productivity and collaboration tools, software and products developed and marketed by Google.

Who is GSuite available for?

  • G-Suite was available for the purposes of training pre-service teachers for its use in K-12 in the Faculty of Education.
  • G-Suite is no longer available at UVic as a centrally supported technology.

Important considerations:

  • G-Suite is not supported as a Learning Management System or primary course site for UVic courses.
  • In compliance with FIPPA and protection of student privacy, information such as student grades, course messages, class meetings /sessions should not be stored in GSuite. Please contact privacyinfo@uvic.ca for more information.
  • Due to privacy considerations related to Google’s handling of personal information, account creation and management is performed manually.
Where can I get support?

Technology Integrated Learning (LTSI) no longers supports G Suite beyond resetting passwords. Instructors should reach out to their department for support if required for approved purposes.

For additional support, instructors and students should view GSuite Help Resources:

Alternative uses

  • Specific approval for other uses of GSuite aside from courses with learning outcomes related to training teachers for use in K-12 must be obtained through the Privacy Office. If you have questions or concerns, please contact privacyinfo@uvic.ca
