Recognizing the diverse needs of our students, UVic seamlessly integrates assistive technologies across various platforms. For instance, automatic captions are available in virtual environments like Zoom, Teams, and Echo360 (1.2). UVic encourages instructors to use web platforms like Brightspace and our Online Academic Community (WordPress) as all popular web browsers readily allow adjustments to font, layout, and colours (1.1). Additionally, dictation software is available in our Microsoft Office suite, which can transform spoken words into text (4.1). Through our Centre for Accessible Learning (CAL) Adaptive Tech program, students registered with CAL can receive tailored consultations and training on how to utilize these technologies. UVic also has assistive technology rooms, open to all students in the McPherson Library and Law Library (4.2). These dedicated spaces are equipped with workstations each outfitted with assistive technology software and hardware.
