On Monday, July 10th Brightspace will be introducing updates to user experience, assessment, evaluation, and timing in order to make tools like Assignments, Discussions, and Quizzes more consistent and user-friendly. In addition, an integration with the new UVic Library reserves system is launching.
Additional updates include a new Crowdmark assessment creation interface and the ability to schedule bookable appointments in Zoom using the Brightspace integration.
Brightspace - New Quiz Creation Experience
D2L has introduced a new Quiz creation and editing experience to bring the tool in line with recent changes to the Assignment tool. The new interface places the most essential tools for Instructors within the main editing interface, streamlining the creation of Quizzes, the addition of questions, and the configuration of timing and availability options. Brightspace - New Discussion Creation Experience
As with the Quiz tool above, D2L has introduced a new Discussion creation and editing experience. This update is part of the D2L’s efforts to create a more consistent user experience across the tools in Brightspace. Learn more about the new features here.
Brightspace - New Quiz Timing tools
As part of the July Continuous Delivery monthly update from D2L (scheduled for July 26th), new Quiz timing tools are being introduced. Instructors now have control over the way that students are notified about impending time limits (including warnings for students), as well as control over auto-submission behaviour at the end of the quiz time period. In addition, the grace period for quizzes is no longer in use.
Brightspace - New Course Reserves Integration
In partnership with UVic Libraries, a new course reserves integration has been added to Brightspace. Labelled “Course Reserves” under the Course Tools menu, this connect directly to the library’s new reserve system Leganto. To learn more contact reserves@uvic.ca.
Zoom - Bookable appointment scheduler
Zoom has added a new appointment scheduler, which is now available through the Zoom integration with Brightspace. This allows instructors to create, recurring, prescheduled appointment slots that can then be selected by students in their class. Learn more here.
Crowdmark - New assessment creation interface
The Crowdmark grading platform launched a new assessment creation interface on July 5th, 2023. There are no changes to the way students access or interact with Crowdmark.
