The Brightspace learning environment allows instructors to evaluate assignments directly in the platform, improving efficiency. Students can receive feedback online in real time following rubrics and core competencies.
This page covers evaluating assignments. To learn about setting up assignments, please visit Creating Assignments.
Why Use Assignments?
Easily Provide Feedback
- Use built-in annotation tools to mark up submissions using highlighting, free-hand drawing, shapes, and associated commenting.
- Evaluate submissions directly within attached rubrics and leave feedback directly on the submission page.
- Evaluate external submissions and centralize feedback in Brightspace.
Mark Submissions Offline
- Download user submissions and provide feedback offline. Then upload them back into the appropriate assignment as attachments to each user’s submission evaluation.
- For more instructors, please follow the Brightspace tutorial on how to Evaluate Submissions Offline.
Mark Anonymously
- Evaluate anonymized user submissions to remove bias in the grading process. Once this feature is enabled, instructors are only able to view anonymized learner names.
