The Brightspace Grades tool allows instructors to enter grades either numerically or based on a grading scheme. It is required to set up the grade book and associate each quiz, assignment and discussion with a grade item, which makes an entry in the grade book.
This page covers specific information about Entering and Releasing grades. To learn more about setting up your grade book please visit Set Up a Gradebook.
Why use the Grades tool in Brightspace?
Entering Grades
- Instructors need to create grade items to make entries in the grade book. The grade items can be associated with quizzes, assignments and discussions that the instructor wants to grade.
- Grades can be assigned numerically or based on a grading scheme.
- Grades or feedback entered manually into the grade book synchronize automatically with the associated activity and appear for users to view.
Releasing Grades
- Instructors can set the grades to be released automatically in the quiz setting.
- Grades can also be released and published manually to the students.
- Instructors can manually release unofficial final grades (official grades are submitted through FAST).
