This page explains how to record a Zoom session and share it in Brightspace. This is a useful way to share lecture recordings so students can watch or re-watch them later. Instructors and students can also use Zoom as a quick and simple way to record a video demo or presentation to share later.

Record your lecture / Zoom meeting to the cloud

Click the Record button on the meeting toolbar. Choosing Record to Cloud when starting a recording will automatically upload Zoom recordings to your personal Echo360 library.

Considering privacy

  • In accordance with BC privacy legislation, If you are intending to record a session, first notify students and explain the purpose (e.g. so that students can watch the session later).  Only notification is required, students do not need to provide consent for recording. After notification, students have options, for example, turning off their video, asking questions through chat, and/or reviewing the recorded version of the session.
  • For example: “Please be aware our session Is being recorded to allow students who are not able to attend to watch later and will be posted in Brightspace. If  you do not want to be identifiable in the recording, turn off your webcam and participate via chat.”
