This day is an excellent opportunity to meet fellow TAs, discover the resources and supports available to you, and learn new strategies from experienced educators. The TA Welcome Day is free to all TAs and graduate students at UVic. Registration is required.

Join us for a welcome to the TA community at UVic! In this session, we will explore the key responsibilities of TAs to help you prepare for your upcoming TA position. We will also introduce TAs to the wide variety of resources and supports available to you at UVic.

Join us as award-winning Teaching Assistants (TAs) share strategies they use to make all their students feel welcomed, included and supported. This session contains two short talks followed by a question-and-answer period. Presenters are winners of the 2023 Andy Farquharson Teaching Excellence Award. This award celebrates teaching excellence among UVic graduate student teaching assistants.

Creating an Inclusive Learning Environment
Join us for a workshop dedicated to creating an inclusive learning environment. In this workshop, we will explore the foundational concepts of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) and examine how these principles can be integrated into educational settings. We will dive into a range of effective teaching strategies that can be used to accommodate diverse needs and perspectives. Finally, you will have the opportunity to participate in reflective activities designed to help you articulate your learning outcomes and share experiences with peers.

Meet & Greet – Snack and Chat Session
Delight in tasty snacks while engaging in insightful conversations with the LTSI Senior Teaching Assistant Consultant (S-TAC). The S-TAC is a liason between TAs and the LTSI. Connect, collaborate, and spark new ideas in a relaxed and interactive setting.
